Meridia weight loss pill is a medicine used for the management and treatment of obesity, including the maintenance of weight loss in individuals. This medicine should be used in conjunction with the reduced calorie diet.

This medicine is recommended for obese patients with an initial BMI index ≥ 30 kg/m2, or ≥ 27 kg/m2 in the presence of other disorders including, controlled hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes.

The recommended dosage of Meridia (Sibutramine Hcl) 15 mg is once daily, usually in the morning time. This medication may be used with or without food as per the convenience of the patient. The initial dosage of medicine is 10 mg per day. The dosage of the medicine may be increased 15 mg per day after the proper consultation with the health care provider or doctor.

Precautions of Meridia (Sibutramine Hcl) 15 mg:

The Sibutramine Hydrochloride Monohydrate and other agents used in the formulation of Meridia (Sibutramine Hcl) may raise the heartbeat or blood pressure. These include certain medications for allergy, cough, cold and decongestants. All the patients taking these medicines should use Meridia with caution only after the proper consultation of their doctor or health care professional.

Cases of psychosis and mania have been reported rarely in patients using the Sibutramine based medicine. If any user experience these issues, then immediate discontinuation of medicine should be considered.

Interstitial Nephritis:

At least one patient has confirmed the case of acute interstitial nephritis after getting the sibutramine during the premarketing studies. After the discontinuation of medicine, the renal function of the patient normalized and the patient made a full recovery afterwards.


Cases of convulsions were reported in at least three patients treated with Meridia weight loss pill during the premarketing studies. Two of the three patients suffered from seizure had already predisposing factors.

The common symptoms of Meridia are constipation, stomach pain, loss of appetite, cough, high blood pressure, sore throat, shortness of breath, flu symptoms, joint pain, back pain, dizziness, trouble sleeping and depression.
